Even More Delicious FudzNovember 17th, 2008 by Gloria

Good news! I’m back again with the final additions to my delicious fuds list. This time I tried to think of some of the more unique food variations of the gaming world. Some of them you may have heard of, others maybe not. That’s A-ok. We’re all food lovers here. I hope. My last list seemed to get a lot of people thinking, and let me just say - if you ever think of a recipe to go along with a certain game food type, please let me know. I’d love to do some kind of feature on video game recipes sent in by the readers. And I’m not just saying that because I want to try the foods myself…Even though I do. I really do.
On to the last part of the list!

Delicious FudzNovember 10th, 2008 by Gloria

I have a powerful love of food. I have a feeling that the perfect job for me would be critiquing any fine dining establishment. I love salads, meat, candy, cake, everything. I’ll try everything at least once, including some of the nastiest things imaginable. I tried those gross ‘mixed fruit’ twizzlers. Now and then I’ll try something bizarre and find a gem, like those oh-so-delicious caramel bugles. You’re probably asking yourself, “What does this have to do with gaming?” Good question, dear reader. Well, as avid a food fan as I am, whenever I come across a particularly strange food(ish) item in a game, I tend to wonder just what - exactly - it tastes like. Some of them just look so good.
I’ve compiled a short list of the game foods I’d love to try. It took more consideration than I thought it would, but I had to leave out a lot of the games that just use regular real life food items. Not that I have anything against cake…it’s just that I’m sure we’ve all eaten it at least once by now.

Where Guitar Hero Has Gone WrongNovember 7th, 2008 by Brittany

If you’ve been a follower of my posts since my time at Girls Don’t Game, then you probably know by now that rhythm and music games hold a very special place in my heart. With that said, I’ve been a fan of Guitar Hero since I was following the success of Guitar Freaks in Japan. I’d always wished we could have something similar Stateside. And one magical day, I got my wish: Guitar Hero was born.
Mixing some classic rock favorites with more modern hits, Guitar Hero opened up a whole new world of rhythm gaming to American audiences who may have never touched this kind of game before. However, since its inception and the torch passed to Activision, the franchise has gone just a bit downhill. What do I think is wrong with the whole thing, and why? Read on and find out.

Gaming Horror StoriesOctober 31st, 2008 by Brittany

It’s that time of year again.
Yes, it’s time to don your best costumes, run from door to door demanding candy, then run home to sit comfortably on your couch and get some late-night levels of Dead Space completed, or make some time for Silent Hill. At Girls Don’t Game, it’s time to conjure up horror stories from the vaults of our minds. I’ve started it off–what we need is for you, the reader, to comment with your most horrendous gaming moments.
For the faint at heart–don’t venture forward. Instead, visit Barbie.com, if that’s more your speed…

Stop! Nostalgia Time!October 27th, 2008 by Gloria

With the release of Mega Man 9 I find myself missing the old days of 90’s gaming. It’s true that games have come a long way in the last ten to twenty years, but my heart yearns for the simpler days. One of the main reasons I’m buying a Wii is for the downloaded games. I’m dying to play Secret of Mana again. I’m thrilled they’ve released Chrono Trigger on the DS. I’ll probably pick it up. But I want to ride Flammie the dragon and talk to mushroom people. I’m also hoping they continue to release my favorites, and I’m definitely going to reclaim the Donkey Kong series. Those were such good times.
It’s interesting to see how well received Mega Man 9 is. Older gamers love it because it takes us back to a day when there were no such thing as clunky camera angles. Younger gamers enjoy it because it presents them with a new challenge.

Top Ten Most Annoying Online GamersOctober 24th, 2008 by Brittany

We’ve all been there. We’ve all sat in the lobby listening to some wannabe rapper spouting lines about popping caps in people’s (fill in the blank), or that kid who isn’t even old enough to be in the game to start with. And some of us have even endured hounding from members of the opposite sex hoping to get some pictures or voice chat for their trouble.
Some of them aren’t even interested in getting much gaming done at all. They just want to complain or mess things up for others.
If you haven’t seen them, now you will. They’ve been conveniently collected in one place. For your entertainment: the top ten most annoying online gamers.
