Lego GTAIt’s inevitable that in the future we’re going to see more Lego titles, because of the previous success that they’ve had. Just look at Lego Star Wars, and most recently, Lego Batman. They take what starts out as a mature, established concept and cute it up with enemies exploding into brick pieces, remove what could be extraneous dialogue and substitute it with adorable mumblings akin to Simlish, and some of the sweetest pantomime I’ve seen on characters since Final Fantasy VII.

I firmly believe that even if you didn’t like the game before, you’d probably find something to like about it now if it’s been turned into Lego, at least if it was a solid title and didn’t rely on the same old tired mechanics as the previous games. And how many movies out there would make awesome transitions? You’re not going to find conventional games on here like the obvious, boring, Mario, Zelda, Halo, Gears of War, and so on here. So, without further ado, I’ve got a sampling here of five games out of the hundreds I could think of that would make great Lego games.

About Gloria Once Upon a Video Game

Epic, but not epic enough? When most people think of epics their minds immediately drift back to nights in highschool spent hunched over their copies of The Iliad and Paradise Lost. When gamers think of epics, we tend to think of those nights learning Sunwell Plateau. Even from the earliest days of side scrolling adventures, most video games have told (or attempted to) a story. Blowing up a space alien isn’t necessarily on par with Odysseus’ long, poetic journey, but it’s true that some literary elements exist in every well made game’s plot.

Fat Princess

With all the negative press that the upcoming PSN title Fat Princess has been given (and for no good reason), we thought we’d go to the source and set some records straight. In this interview I talk to Chris Millar, from DarkStar Industries, on behalf of Girls Don’t Game. He was nice enough to provide us with some answers to some questions we had. If you think Fat Princess looks impossibly fun like we do, or if you’re one of those people who finds it offensive on all counts, read on anyway. You may surprised what you find.

Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! Dancing is not my forte. Though some of my favorite musical genres happens to be electronica and techno, you won’t find me on the dance floor shaking what my mother gave me.

Thankfully, being a gamer has provided me with many different ways I can get in touch with my more musical side, even if it’s just me grooving in my seat. From miniature turntables to male cheerleaders, these are five of my all-time favorite music and rhythm games.

Crying Have you ever fallen in love with a game so deeply that you’d fight for it? Did you grow so attached to characters that you’d reminisce about their final appearances? Would you’ve thrown yourself in front of a bullet to have kept it from damaging your cartridge?

I’ve been there. There are games I’ve obsessed over. Sometimes it’s not an obsession so much as a resonance, a thought about it that lingers in your head after you’ve turned it off. Some games just stay with you.

One of the saddest truths is that all good things must come to an end. But occasionally that end is too bitter. Premature, even. How do we cope with the loss of our favorite games?

You fail. Sorry.

If I have the console or the PC with the recommended requirements, I will play pretty much any game you toss my way.

It goes without saying then, that I am starting or stopping games all of the time simply because there are so many to wade through. I am often faced with situations where I find myself unable to progress in any of the games I’ve started up. It’s a bump in the road that many have experienced. No matter what you do, or how often you try, you just can’t quite get past a certain spot in what you’re playing.

The first few footholds were easy to navigate to, but you have found yourself at a point that you just can’t quite get out of. Welcome to the gamer’s plateau.
