Merry ChristmasMerry Christmas! Yep, it’s that special day - that one day of the year we turn all sentimental and start subscribing to the notion of happy, functional, extended families.

Like many of you, I intend to stuff myself silly, and then watch gentle and non-challenging television for a few hours. Since I’m not expecting any new games this year, and since my celebrations will be somewhat muted by the fact my boyfriend-and-husband-to-be is STILL in another country, I thought I’d dedicate this post to all of you who are, perhaps, not jiving to the Christmas Spirit quite so strongly - for whatever reason that may be.

Several MMORPG’s have their own holiday themed events and I wanted to share the diversity between them with the rest of you.

Merry Christmas! For me, Christmas and the holiday season is all about the two week break I get from college. I don’t really care about the tree, the shopping, the gifts, or other festivities with the family—well, maybe I do care about the gifts a little, but whatever, I digress. What I really care about and am truly grateful for is the two weeks I get of uninterrupted video gaming.

CSI New York“LOG OFF, NOW!”

You may recognize this as the climactic line of the television previews for last Wednesday’s episode of CBS prime time series CSI New York. In the short preview, it lends the scary impression to the viewer that its resident video game murderer can somehow kill one directly through the computer. Pretty climactic indeed.

I wonder now about how safe gamers, particularly females, feel online in the game realm. How seriously do we take privacy?

The question should really start as: Do we even consider it at all?
