Everyone knows that games and politics don’t mix. Politicians hate gamers, gamers hate politicians, and it’s an endlessly cyclic and mutual hatred. To the politicians, video games promote obscene sexuality and high violence. Meanwhile, according to gamers, politicians just need to get with the times.

To me, a political science college major and a gamer, both sides need to learn to get along–the sooner, the better. Somewhere along the line it became commonplace to ignore Washington if you had a controller in your hands, and somehow that has to change.

As internet gaming grows more mainstream by the day, every company is looking for the next big idea to cash in on with a multiplayer mode. With Age of Conan and Warhammer Online coming out this year, the MMORPG market is very alive, if not exactly promising. Still, one has to wonder–what if there were something more? Something a little different? Something not a rehash of a rehash its with pretty ponies and stone castles?

For a while I’ve thought about it and done nothing, forsaking the genre completely and daydreaming of Left 4 Dead. That all changes tonight, however, because tonight I present you the top five MMORPGs that don’t exist. In all likelihood they’ll never be made, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t. Because I know I’d buy them and you would too.

As real life obligations build and certain staff members become re-addicted to World of Warcraft, it becomes clear our five member core is going to need to be readjusted. What I’m about to say is crossing the line. It’s sacrilegious. I will be stuck down by lightning from the gaming heavens. Fanboys and fangirls will have my head on a replica Masamune sword tomorrow. And still, I have to say it. I have to confess. I have to come clean.

I recently had a chance to talk to one of the more famous female gamers for a Girls Don’t Game exclusive interview. So who’s the special lady? Well, it’s none other than Old Grandma Hardcore, the gaming granny with a mouth worse than the foulest of foul sailors who makes the Angry Video Game Nerd look tame.
